The Next Chapter: Tracer Waypoint

In 2020, I found coffee plants my grandfather had planted years ago.

They were still there. Still producing. Still part of our story.

That moment stayed with me. It was the beginning of something I didn’t fully understand yet, but I knew I wanted to follow it.

Over time, that curiosity turned into something real. I started learning more about coffee, spending time on the farm, understanding the process, building relationships, and slowly shaping what would become Tracer.

This past season, we brought that story to Charleston.

The Tracer pilot at the Harbor Entrepreneur Center was always meant to be temporary. It was a place to test ideas. To see what worked. To see if people would connect with what we were building.


And you did.


People came in and didn’t just order coffee. They asked questions. They wanted to understand where it came from, how it was processed, who grew it. Some of you stayed longer than you planned. Some came back multiple times. Some brought friends.

It started to feel like more than just a pop up.

It felt like a small community forming around something simple but meaningful. During that time, we learned a lot. We refined our recipes, adjusted the menu, improved the workflow, and really started to understand what Tracer could become.

Closing the Pilot

Last week, we are closed the pilot at HEC. Not because something went wrong. But because it did exactly what it was supposed to do.

It gave us direction. It showed us that this idea has a place and that people care about it.

And now it is time to take the next step.

Opening Tracer Waypoint

On March 19, we are opening Tracer Waypoint.

This is not just another location. It is a step forward. Waypoint is meant to feel more grounded. More intentional. A space built from everything we learned during the pilot.

You will still find the same core drinks. Espresso, V60, cold brew. But the experience will feel more complete.

There will be more room for conversation. More focus on where the coffee comes from. More intention behind every detail.

The goal is still the same.

To connect people to the origin of their coffee.

Why This Matters

Tracer has never been just about selling coffee.

It is about creating a connection between a farm in Colombia and a cup here in Charleston.

It is about transparency. About knowing the people behind what you are drinking. It is about building something that feels real. The pilot was the first step. Waypoint is the next one.
