How We Tailor Each Roast to Let Origin Shine

At Tracer, we don’t just roast coffee — we try to listen to it. Every bean has a story: the farmer who grew it, the soil it came from, the altitude, the process. When we roast, our job isn’t to overwrite that story — it’s to bring it forward.

Getting to Know the Bean
Before the heat ever touches the drum, we ask:
Where did this coffee grow?
What variety is it?
How was it processed?
Each of these factors helps us shape the roast — because no two coffees are the same, and they shouldn’t be treated like they are.
A bright, floral Chiroso from the high mountains of Antioquia needs a very different approach than a chocolate-heavy Castillo from lower altitudes. One might need a shorter Maillard phase to preserve those delicate fruit notes. The other might need a longer development to bring out its natural sweetness and body. That’s the beauty of roasting with intention.
Partnering with a Local Roaster

We’re proud to work with a local roaster who shares our mission: The Coffee Run, based in Summerville, SC.
Trey and McKendrick — the team behind The Coffee Run — are masters of their craft. We collaborate with them closely to test, roast, cup, and refine each profile until it hits the sweet spot. Together, we bring out the best in every bean by paying attention to detail and honoring origin.
This local partnership also keeps our footprint smaller and our quality higher. You get fresh-roasted coffee that’s cared for at every step — not just in origin, but in roast.

No One-Size-Fits-All Roasting
We don’t believe in a “Tracer flavor.” We believe in origin flavor. That means every roast profile is created to enhance what’s already there — not to make it taste like everything else.
Some beans shine at lighter roasts with floral or citrus notes
Others need a longer development for chocolate and spice
Every decision we make — from charge temp to airflow — is based on bringing out the unique character of that coffee.
Want to Taste the Difference?
Every label includes origin details, variety, altitude, and process — because we want you to know what you’re drinking and where it came from.
Thanks to our collaboration with a local roaster, your coffee is not just fresh — it’s purposefully crafted.
