Two Podium Finishes at Coffee Competitions in Colombia

The specialty coffee community in Bolívar, Antioquia witnessed an inspiring weekend as Eduardo competed in two regional coffee competitions and earned podium placements in both. With calm focus, discipline, and genuine love for coffee, he represented the craft from seed to cup.

Competing among talented baristas and roasters, Eduardo earned:

  • 3rd place in the barista competition using the Hario Switch

  • 2nd place in the coffee roasting competition with a Gesha Honey from Finca La Herencia, produced by Santiago Arenas Calle

These results reflect years of dedication to brewing and roasting, continuous learning, and deep respect for Colombian coffee traditions.

Barista Competition: Third Place with the Hario Switch


On the first day, Eduardo participated in the brewing competition, choosing the Hario Switch immersion-percolation brewer. His brewing style mirrors his personality: quiet, balanced, thoughtful.

The cup he presented highlighted:

  • Gentle sweetness

  • Silky texture

  • Floral notes and clarity

  • A clean, elegant finish

Judges recognized the precision and control behind the brew, earning him third place. The performance was not loud or theatrical. It was honest, calm, and grounded, letting technique and flavor speak first.

Roasting Competition: Honoring Origin with a Gesha Honey

The following day, Eduardo stepped into the coffee roasting competition. His entry: a Gesha Honey processed coffee from Finca La Herencia in Antioquia, grown by producer Santiago Arenas Calle.

This lot expressed:

  • Honey sweetness

  • Bright florals

  • Delicate fruit tones

  • A smooth, layered cup profile

By roasting with restraint and intention, Eduardo showcased what makes high-elevation Colombian coffees so special. Judges awarded him second place, highlighting balance, flavor expression, and terroir clarity.
