The Regulars We Never Expected

When we first opened Tracer inside Live Oak Hotel, we assumed most of our guests would be exactly that, guests.
People visiting Charleston for a weekend, attending a conference, or passing through on business. They'd grab a coffee, we'd wish them a great stay, and we'd probably never see them again.
Some days that's still true. But something unexpected has been happening.
We're starting to recognize faces. Not just for a few days, but week after week. And honestly, that's one of the most rewarding parts of owning a coffee shop.
What Does a Regular Look Like in a Hotel?
In a neighborhood café, a regular might be someone who lives around the corner. Inside a hotel, it's a little different. Some of our regulars are the people who make Live Oak feel like home. The front desk team grabbing their morning latte before a shift.
Housekeeping stopping in for a quick coffee. Valet attendants, managers, and event staff who have become part of our daily routine.
Then there are our downtown neighbors.
People who work nearby have started making Tracer part of their morning commute or afternoon reset. We see them walk in before work, during lunch breaks, or after meetings. Their visits have gone from "I'll stop in sometime" to "See you tomorrow." One of our favorite surprises has been the companies that regularly send employees to stay at Live Oak. Every few weeks, someone new walks through the door and says something like, "My coworker told me I had to get coffee here."
Those recommendations mean everything to us.
It reminds us that even when our guests change, the relationships continue.
We're Lucky to Be Here

We're lucky to call the Upper King area home.
While we're tucked inside Live Oak Hotel, our front door opens to one of Charleston's most vibrant neighborhoods. Every day we see a little bit of everything. Locals walking their dogs, people heading into the office, students looking for a place to study, travelers discovering Charleston for the first time, and friends catching up over coffee. That's one of the things we love most about this location.
It naturally brings people together.
Some come because they're staying upstairs. Others come because they're around the corner. Eventually, those two worlds blend together, and strangers slowly become familiar faces.
Saying Thank You
As those familiar faces have grown, we wanted to find a way to give something back.
That's why we introduced our loyalty program.
It's a simple way of thanking the people who choose to make us part of their routine. Whether you're stopping in every weekday before work or grabbing a coffee after a meeting, we're grateful every time you walk through the door. We don't take that for granted.
Creating More Reasons to Gather
Coffee has always been about more than what's in the cup.
It's about conversations, chance encounters, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable staying a little longer.
That's why we're starting to host more community events.
Tomorrow we're hosting our First Friends Latte Mixer at Bloo's Pool, a casual morning where locals, friends, neighbors, and anyone looking to meet new people can relax together over great coffee and good conversation.
We hope it's just the beginning.
Our goal is to create events that make Tracer feel like more than somewhere to grab coffee. We want it to be somewhere people feel connected.
Looking Ahead
One of our favorite things about Charleston is how the city changes throughout the year.
Before long, students will be returning to the College of Charleston and the energy downtown will shift again. We're already working on a menu that's fun, affordable, and designed with students in mind, without compromising the quality and ingredients we're known for.
Whether you're studying between classes, working remotely, meeting a friend, staying at the hotel, or simply exploring Charleston, we hope Tracer becomes one of those places that feels familiar.
To Our Regulars
Whether you've visited us twice or fifty times...
Whether you work at Live Oak, around the corner, or only find yourself in Charleston every few months...
Thank you.
Every returning face reminds us that we're building something bigger than a coffee shop.
We're building a community.
And if we haven't learned your name yet, don't worry.
We'll probably see you again tomorrow.
